AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley High School announced its valedictorians for the 2022-23 school year are Molly Moriarty and Alexandra “Allie” Ellenwood, and salutatorian is Abigail "Abby" Bowers.

Molly is the daughter Jenny and Steve Moriarty.

She said being co-valedictorian is cool knowing all of her hard work finally paid off. When she saw her number one slot on her transcript, she said she freaked out. She’s known about her co-valedictorian placement for about a month.

She said sharing the valedictorian placement is awesome because Allie has always been smart and it was great to experience it with her.

Molly participates in golf, basketball and softball, as well as having participated in National Honor Society, student council and at one point participated in the Athletic Leadership team. She recently joined the invite bowling team.

Molly plans on going to Purdue University and studying business and minoring in Spanish. She plans on one day owning her own coffee shop.

Jenny said they are very proud of Molly, saying she worked very hard for the co-valedictorian placement. On top of being a multi-core athlete, Molly had the discipline to get her academic work done. Molly’s dedication to academics, sports, family, friends and God is amazing.

“We couldn’t be more proud of her,” Jenny said.

Steve said Molly being overall competitive has helped her step up to the plate when it comes to academics and sports and she always wants to be the best. Molly wanting to have a good future has driven her to do what she can. Steve said Molly is smart, but her hard work is what got her to the top.

Allie is the daughter of Stephanie and Jeff Ellenwood.

Allie said she is super excited about being one of the valedictorians. She’s proud of the accomplishment.

Allie plans on going to Ivy Tech and majoring in criminal justice and then transfer to a bigger school. She doesn’t know yet exactly what she wants to do, but knows it’s something in the criminal justice field. The TV show “Criminal Minds” sparked her interest in the field because she loves true crime and the show sparked her interest in the field.

Allie has participated in art club, National Honor Society, Mock Trial and kickboxing.

Allie said she is happy for herself, Molly and Abby because they all worked really hard.

Stephanie said they are very proud of Allie because she’s always been introverted, so for her to overcome of those challenges and work hard to become co-valedictorian is a major accomplishment for her.

Jeff said Allie has proven that she can do anything she puts her mind to.

Abby is the daughter of Carrie and Jeremy Bowers.

After graduation, she said she plans on majoring in pre-dentistry and then going to dentistry school and become an orthodontist, but hasn’t picked out a school yet. She had braces when she was younger and thought it was cool and that it might be a field she’d like to go into. She is interning at Warsaw Orthodontics.

She said being salutatorian is cool. She was always toward the top of her class, but she said she never thought she’d be first or second. While at TVHS, Abby has participated in National Honor Society, student council and softball.

When Abby was initially told she was salutatorian, she was surprised.

Jeremy said they’re excited about Abby being salutatorian, but they’re not surprised. She’s always been at the top of her class and had a high work ethics with her academics and her sports and extracurricular activities.

Grandfather Mike Whetstone said Abby’s grandmother, Lucinda Fawley Whetstone, was a valedictorian when she graduated. Jeremy said it’s kind of cool having Abby follow in her grandmother’s footsteps. He said the class Abby is in has a high work ethic in academics, so to be toward the top is a feat in itself.
