SILVER LAKE - At Wednesday night's meeting, the Silver Lake Town Council approved a quote for a new street sweeper.

The new sweeper is $8,921.70, which does not include trade-in.

The council approved an SRKM Architecture proposal for a lean-to and building at the highway lot, pending state permits for the construction, as well as the 2023 fire department contract and the Baker Tilly contract for $1,200 per month for financial services.

Town resident Frank Greer spoke to the council for the second time regarding a possible ordinance allowing chickens. Council President Hugh Murfin asked Greer to attend the March meeting when they would further discuss such an ordinance.

In other business:

- The fire department had four runs last month: one mutual aid assist with Claypool, two fires and one ice water rescue.

- The claims docket including payroll was $159,614.28.

The Council will next meet at 7 p.m. March 8.
