Lassus Handy Dandy, 777 Parker St., Warsaw, presented Stillwater Hospice with a $2,610 donation Tuesday.
Store Manager Lora Bridegam said from Nov. 7 to Dec. 1, all the Lassus stores do the “Be a Blessing” fundraiser, which is a tradition Lassus has done for years. The donation came from customers choosing to round their purchases up.
Of the three Warsaw locations, the Lassus Handy Dandy on Parker Street was able to raise the most amount of money. All Lassus locations through the Be A Blessing tradition were able to raise a total of $42,000 to donate to various organizations.
Each Lassus store is able to choose which organization they donate the money to. Bridegam said, in years past, the Parker Street location has donated to the Animal Welfare League and the Beaman Home.
This year, Lassus Handy Dandy decided to donate to Stillwater Hospice because Bridegam said she known Glenn Hall, Kosciusko community outreach director of Stillwater Hospice, for 30 years and knows what kind of person he is. She also said she’s had to use hospice services before.
Hall said the donation will go toward care for patients in Kosciusko County, where ever the biggest need is, including patients who don’t have insurance or don’t have the ability to pay.
