Wawasee Middle School Wins Semi-State Robotics Tournament

Wawasee Middle School’s robotics team, called Pirates of the Caribbean, attended the FIRST Northern Indiana Semi-State Robotics tournament Saturday at Purdue University Fort Wayne.
They competed against the top 48 teams in northern Indiana including teams from the Chicago area, Elkhart, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. Four areas teams competed in an innovation project, the robot design, team core values and the robot game, according to a provided news release.
At the end of the day, Wawasee Middle School was awarded with the Semi-State Grand Champions Award, which is the highest award to receive from this tournament. They will be moving on to the Indiana State Championship in January with a chance to move onto a national championship or international championship.
The four students who make up this team are all sixth-graders. They include Jaxon Bainter, Carter Edgar, Zephyr Losee and Lincoln Stoller.
