Fellowship Missions announced they will be participating in the Downtown Christmas Celebration as part of a collaboration with Cardinal Services.
Women who have been serving in Fellowship Missions’ kitchen since the fall will be volunteering in the Fellowship Missions tent, featuring hot chocolate and freshly baked, handmade fruit turnovers.
This collaboration is thanks to Cardinal Services connecting with Fellowship Missions. Cardinal Services reached out to Fellowship Missions Co-Founder and Volunteer Director Tammy Lane because they had women who were part of their day services program who wanted to serve the Warsaw community. Lane then put them in contact with Mechelle Trent, food services director for Fellowship Missions.
“The women have been working with me in the Fellowship Missions kitchen every Tuesday, and it’s been wonderful having them with us,” said Trent.
The Cardinal Services crew assisted in turning fall peaches and apples into delicious pie fillings as they came into Fellowship Missions and then learned how to make them into turnovers. The women have been involved in the production of the turnovers from start to finish.
The Cardinal Services and Fellowship Missions team decided to bake the turnovers as treats to sell during The Downtown Christmas Celebration, with the proceeds helping fund Fellowship Missions’ programs. Selling the turnovers will also allow the Cardinal Services volunteers to interact with the community and experience the joy of connection this time of year, according to a provided news release.
“Cardinal is grateful and appreciative of Fellowship Missions for providing meaningful opportunities to enhance the volunteers' skills while serving and being a part of their community. The women look forward to every Tuesday and come back with smiles on their faces,” said Tony Peterson, business development director at Cardinal Services.
In addition to the food tent, Fellowship Missions’ new It’s All Good Food Truck will be a part of the Twinkle Lights Parade.
The Downtown Christmas Celebration will take place from 5 to 8 p.m., and the hot, handmade turnovers are first-come/first-serve, so be sure to stop by the Fellowship Missions tent to purchase yours.
Fellowship Missions has been part of the Warsaw community for over a decade, providing those struggling with homelessness and addiction in our community with the hope of transformation. Find more information about their mission and impact on their website at https://fellowshipmissions.net.
