Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting for Lake City Gymnastics, 610 E. Bell Drive, Warsaw, on Friday.
David Swanson, owner with wife Adrea, said Lake City Gymnastics has been at the Bell Drive location since May. They were previously by Ruby Tuesday’s for about four years.
Swanson said they decided to relocate so they could expand as there was a wait list of students due to space.
Lake City Gymnastics has over 750 students.
Swanson said Lake City Gymnastics offers preschool classes, gymnastics classes, Ninja Core classes for boys and girls and has a travel gymnastics team. They had their first state champion last year.
Ages start at 2-1/2 for the preschool program, going up to the high school program. Most of the classes start around 4 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and Saturday’s hours are 9 a.m. to noon.
If someone is interested in becoming a student, they can visit the website at www.lakecitygymnastics.com and go to the Parent Portal. People can take a free trial class. On the website, people can put in their child’s age and they will be shown what classes are available. Pricing is at a monthly rate of about $82.
Students generally go once a week for about an hour. If students want to do more, Swanson said they can join a pre-team or competitive team.
Swanson said gymnastics help kids build confidence, discipline, work ethic, as well as help with their athleticism in other sports in regards to body awareness and coordination. He said they have a number of parents who said it has changed their child’s life.
