Silver Lake Man Seriously Injured In U.S. 31 Crash

MARSHALL COUNTY - A Silver Lake was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 31, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
According to an Indiana State Police news release, at approximately 2:19 p.m. Tuesday, Marshall County Dispatch received calls of a crash between two pickup trucks on U.S. 31 near Ind. 110. ISP troopers responded and found the two pickup trucks had crashed, blocking northbound lanes.
A preliminary investigation by Trooper Jon Hart indicates that a blue 2002 Ford pickup was traveling south on U.S. 31 and made a left turn to go east on Ind. 110. The driver, Matthew Kneller, 54, of Silver Lake, allegedly did not yield to northbound traffic and pulled into the path of a pickup truck.
Kneller’s Ford was hit broadside on the right side by a maroon 2013 Dodge pickup truck that was traveling north in the right lane.
Kneller was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening, the report states.
The driver of the Dodge, Joseph Mazurek, 35, Booneville, Ky., was not injured in the crash.
Both lanes of northbound U.S. 31 were open at approximately 4:07 p.m.
The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Fulton County Sheriff's Department, Argos Police Department, Lutheran Ground and Argos EMS.
