Leesburg Candleria And Christmas Party Set For Saturday
December 5, 2023 at 7:18 p.m.
LEESBURG – Leesburg Candleria and Christmas party will take place Saturday.
During the Candleria, boys and girls from the Leesburg Mighty Farmers 4-H Club and Boy Scouts from Troop 729 will put out between 1,300 and 1,500 luminaries, Town Council President Christina Archer said.
Lighting of the candles will start at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and the luminaries will be put on all the main streets in Leesburg, weather permitting.
For the Christmas party at 6 p.m., Santa Claus will be at the old firehouse. A group from Leesburg Elementary School will perform during the Christmas party. Archer said there may be other musical performances, but she was not sure as of Tuesday.
The Christmas party will go on rain or shine.
The main sponsor for the event has always been Maple Leaf Farms, but nearly every business in Leesburg supports the event in some way, Archer said.
The whole event could not happen without the community volunteers who help making the Candleria and Christmas party happen, she said. The community has been “very nice” in supporting the event. Every year, they’ve had more support from the community, she stated.
