Albert Duane Jones, of Winona Lake, passed away surrounded by his loved ones at 9:19 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023, at the age of 76. He is absent from the body and present with the Lord.
He was born on May 18, 1947, in McAlester, Okla., to Mary Helen Painter Jones and Albert William Jones.
Albert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on Sept. 13, 1966, and proudly served in the Vietnam War as a radio telegraph officer and as a chaplain in the Army. He was one of the fortunate men that made it home. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 24, 1970. On April 3, 1971, Albert married the lovely Katherine “Kathy” Faith Norris. They were blessed with two children and celebrated 52 years of marriage before Albert passed away.
Albert had a heart for learning about his Lord and earned his Master of Divinity from Grace College in Winona Lake, as well as earning his Doctor of Ministry-ABD. The Lord led him to service as a pastor and church planter, spending his life in ministry. He was a member of the Charis Fellowship and attended Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church. Albert was a strong, beautiful soul, and spent his time on this earth living life to the fullest and spreading the Word. He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He would most want to be remembered for his faith in his Savior Jesus Christ.
He leaves behind his wife, Kathy Jones, Winona Lake; son, David (Kristin) Jones, Winona Lake; daughter, Deborah “Deb” (Nate) Dunlevy, Indianapolis; five grandchildren: Katherine and Josh Jones, Elizabeth, Scott and Luz Dunlevy; and his sister, Sharon Colvin, San Diego, Calif.
