Councilman and Mayor-elect Jeff Grose announced Friday he was resigning from the Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety, effective Sept. 1.
Mayor Joe Thallemer, who was not able to attend Friday’s board meeting, is replacing Grose with Councilwoman Diane Quance on the board.
“On the agenda is the mayor acceptance of my resignation letter to this board beginning September 1. Warsaw Community Schools has been so good to me over the past decade and they continue to do so,” Grose said Friday at the start of the board meeting. “My schedule this fall, so I can work and teach certain courses for our students, there’s a conflict. And the mayor’s been aware of it. And it’s just a good thing. So I will be resigning officially at the end of this month and the mayor should, sooner rather than later, make an announcement for my replacement.”
Grose has served on the Board of Works for the past 12 years.
A news release from the mayor’s office late Friday morning stated Quance was appointed to the Board of Works as Grose’s replacement to fulfill Grose’s term on the board through the end of the year.
“Diane has been a well-respected leader in the city, and her 13 years of experience on the Common Council has prepared her well for her role on the Board of Works,” Thallemer said in the release.
The next Board of Works meeting is Sept. 1.
