AKRON – Scott Rogers, project manager with Skillman Corporation, gave the Tippecanoe Valley School Board an update on the high school construction project Thursday.
Work is being doing pretty diligently to get the auditorium walls up, he said.
In the last month, the east auditorium bearing wall has been completed. The fire main water lines to the pool tank and pump house, as well the hydronic water lines in the school, have been completed.
However, construction on the pool is continuing to be a little difficult. One of the issues Rogers brought up is a drainage issue on the deck that is being worked through. Rogers said he believes there’s a solution for the problems they are seeing.
The design for the deck has been changed and is believed to be better than the original design, Rogers said. The design was changed about a month ago when the tiles were peeled away and workers saw the state of the concrete.
In the next four weeks, Rogers said work will begin for the excavation and prep for the underground fire protection storage tank. He said it was discovered a water line runs right where the tank is planned to be. There are plans to move the water line.
Also to be completed over the next couple weeks are the completion of the pool tank drains and concrete.
