CLAYPOOL — Miranda Stage will be the Republican candidate voters see on the fall election ballot for the Claypool clerk-treasurer position.
Stage, 23, was selected during a brief town convention on Wednesday. Ten people voted at the convention, including Stage and the second Republican nominee, Nicole Miller. Stage received six votes and Miller received four.
Both Stage and Miller gave short speeches prior to voting.
"I want to make a change in this town because it is needed," said Stage. "I plan on being full-time in this position like it should be. That way, I can provide the best service to the people in this town. I want to help people in any way in this position."
Stage has lived in Claypool since she was 4 years old. She is the daughter of Claypool Town Council President Benny Stage Jr.
Stage will face off against the incumbent clerk-treasurer, Patricia Warner, a Libertarian, in the Nov. 7 election.
