Martha E. ‘Marty’ Wells

Martha E. “Marty” Wells, 73, passed away in her home on Aug. 8, 2023.
Marty was born on Jan. 25, 1950, in South Bend, to Ralph and Martha Boyer Smith. She grew up in New Carlisle, and graduated from New Carlisle High School. Marty was also known as “Susie” to her family.
In December of 1994 in Dayton, Ohio, Marty married Richard Wells in his parent’s home. He would proceed her in death in 2011.
Marty worked as a manager for Wilby’s Gas Station in Pierceton and then worked the nightshift stocking shelves at Wal-Mart in LaPorte, until her retirement. She also very much enjoyed genealogy.
She is survived by her sons: Chris Foreman, of Columbia City; William (Sarah) Foreman, of Warsaw; and James Foreman, of Valparaiso; five grandchildren; and siblings: Ralph Steven (Sue) Smith, Merry Anne (Mark) Resch and Richard Joseph Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marty was preceded in death by her son, Bryan Foreman; husband; brother, Ronald Scott Smith; and her parents.
No formal services will be held.
