Cemetery Water Lines Have Been Removed

Sexton Hal Heagy told the Oakwood Board of Regents Thursday the cemetery no longer has a water line issue because the water lines no longer exist, for the most part.
Heagy said the water lines at the cemetery have been taken out for almost the entire cemetery. There are still the existing water lines in the two of the last rows of the cemetery.
Heagy said the lines were taken out because the lines were too bad and it was too expensive to have the lines in. The water lines were prone to leaks and Heagy said the water bill for the cemetery would shoot up while staff tried to figure out where the leaks were.
Currently, Heagy said, there is a hydrant at the chapel where people can get water. He also wants to put a fill station near the chapel parking lot for people to use. He has to figure out a few things before that happens.
Heagy said the well has been put in and, by the end of Friday, it will be up and running
In other business, the board learned:
• Thirteen trees were purchased for the grounds at the cemetery.
• The walkway project to the Preacher’s Stand was moved up to be done this year. It was initially planned to be done next year.
• Heagy will get bids to start a columbarium. He said not all of the work has to be done at once.
• Heagy will present the cemetery’s 2024 budget to the Warsaw Common Council Monday.
The next meeting is at 5 p.m. Sept. 14.
