Local High School Sports Recaps For 4/30

Warsaw at Manchester
After dominating Concord by a score of 16-1 on Friday night, the Warsaw Tigers continued their offensive prowess with a 13-1 victory over Manchester Saturday morning. The Tigers improve to 8-6-1 this spring while the Squires drop to 7-7.
Seven runs in the top of the first inning would be enough for Warsaw, which was led by a three-RBI night from leadoff hitter Jette Woodward. Austin Polk also added to the run total with a solo home run. Ethan Hendrix had two hits for Manchester, totaling three bases and scoring two runs. Gavin Martin went 1-3 with an RBI.
Warsaw hosts Mishawaka Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. while Manchester is at home against Wabash on Monday at the same time.
John Glenn at Tippecanoe Valley
The baseball game between Tippecanoe Valley and John Glenn scheduled for Saturday morning was cancelled due to weather. No make-up date has been announced.
Valley plays its next game Monday at North Miami at 5 p.m.
Triton at Knox
Triton was one of the few area teams able to play its scheduled game Friday night, losing 5-1 on the road at Knox. The Trojans are now 5-10 this season, 2-4 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.
Drew Bingamon went 1-3 on the day, driving in Triton’s lone run. Jacob Pitney led the team with two hits, one of them for extra bases. Pintey also struck out three hitters in six innings pitched, giving up just three earned runs.
Triton plays the first of back-to-back games with Culver Community on Monday at home at 5 p.m.
Softball
Warsaw at Huntington North
The softball game between Warsaw and Huntington North scheduled for Saturday morning was postponed due to weather. No make-up date has been announced, but is currently being worked out.
The Lady Tigers were able to play on Friday night, falling 12-2 to Concord to fall to 2-10, 2-4 in the Northern Lakes Conference. Lauren Eastwood had a hit and a run driven in.
Warsaw is next scheduled to play Monday at Mishawaka.
Tippecanoe Valley Tournament
The softball tournament scheduled to be held at Tippecanoe Valley Saturday morning was cancelled due to weather. No makeup date has been announced.
The Lady Vikings play at North Miami at 5 p.m. Monday night.
Wawasee at East Noble
The softball game between Wawasee and East Noble scheduled for Saturday morning was postponed due to weather. No make-up date has been announced.
The Warriors are at Concord Monday evening at 5:30 p.m.
Tennis
Tippecanoe Valley at Concord Invite
Tippecanoe Valley lost both of its matches at the Concord Invite Saturday morning, falling to both Concord and Leo by the score of 3-2.
Both of Valley’s wins in each match came from No. 1 and No. 2 singles competitors Karegan Callahan and Lydia Miller. Miller won her first match in dominant fashion 6-0, 6-0, while Callahan won both of her matches 7-5, 6-4.
The Lady Vikings host rival Rochester Monday at 5 p.m.
Golf
Manchester/Whitko at Wawasee Invite
Three local teams competed at the 16-team Wawasee Invite Saturday morning. Columbia City took first place in the tournament, with Wawasee leading the local teams and taking fifth place overall. Manchester came in eleventh while Whitko finished fifteenth.
Jay Finlinson and Weston DeLong tied for the Wawasee team lead, each shooting an 80. Manchester’s Connor Trump paced the Squires with an 86.
