Baseball

Warsaw at Northridge


Warsaw picked up a big conference victory over Northridge Wednesday night, winning 9-7. The Tigers are now 6-6-1 this season, 3-2 in the Northern Lakes Conference.

Warsaw scored four runs in the final two innings to come from behind and win.

Josh Reihl found that putting the ball in play usually leads to good things, as Reihl registered three RBIs without recording a hit. Josh Shapiro scored two runs and had the lone extra-base hit for Warsaw, a double. Kyle Showley had five strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work.

The Tigers are back in action Friday evening at home against Concord. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Tippecanoe Valley at Peru

Tippecanoe Valley was able to snap a three-game losing streak Wednesday night, defeating Peru 6-5. The Vikings are now 5-6 this season, 2-1 in the Three Rivers Conference.

Markus Bernicky continued what has been a strong start to his season, going 2-4 with a home run and three runs driven in. Bernicky also struck out four Peru hitters on the mound. Evan Myers went 1-4 in the game with an RBI.

Valley plays its next game Saturday morning at home against John Glenn. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.

Wawasee at Plymouth

Wawasee was unable to come away with a road victory at Plymouth Wednesday evening, falling 14-6 on the road. The Warriors are now 2-10 this season, 1-4 in the Northern Lakes Conference.

Ty Brooks, Dane Cripe and Kalab Salazar each had two hits for Wawasee, with Brooks and Salazar also driving in a run. Ryan Menzie struck out two in 2.1 innings pitched, giving up just one earned run.

The Warriors will look to get back in the win column Friday night at Goshen. First pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Whitko at North Miami

A late-inning rally was enough for Whitko to escape North Miami with a win Wednesday night, as the Wildcats won 7-2 to improve to 11-2 on the year, 2-1 in the Three Rivers Conference.

Logan Hoffman drove in the winning run in the fifth inning, breaking up a 2-2 tie. Riley Harman picked up a two-run triple in the third. Max Platt got the win on the mound for Whitko, striking out four over five innings while only giving up just three hits.

The Wildcats will look to extend their four-game winning streak Friday at home against Adams Central. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Softball

Tippecanoe Valley at Peru

Tippecanoe Valley made it two wins in a row Wednesday evening, defeating conference foe Peru 13-3. The Lady Vikings are 8-3 this spring, remaining perfect in the TRC at 3-0.

Molly Moriarty had a huge day at the dish, going 4-5 with two doubles, four runs scored and three runs driven in. Brittany Benn was also solid, going 3-5 with two RBIs. Corinna Stiles gave up just two earned runs in seven innings, striking out seven in the process.

The Lady Vikings play host to a tournament Saturday morning.

Plymouth at Wawasee

Wawasee won its second game in a row Wednesday night, narrowly defeating Plymouth 5-4 at home. The Warriors are now 9-5 this season, 2-2 in the NLC.

Arisai Garcia continued her great season, going 2-2 with a run scored and two driven in. Brooke Catron also drove in two runs, going 1-3 with a triple. Haylee Allen struck out six in the win.

Wawasee is back at home Friday evening against conference foe Goshen. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Maconaquah at Manchester

Manchester battled hard but was unable to come away with a win against Maconaquah Wednesday night, falling 9-5 at home. The Lady Squires are now 3-11 this season, 1-2 in the TRC.

Izzy Renz had two RBIs for Manchester, going 1-4 on the day. Mckelvey Espeset went 1-3 with a run driven in and a run scored.

The Lady Squires are off until Monday, when the team faces off with Wabash at home at 6 p.m.

Whitko at North Miami

Whitko was unable to get much going offensively in its loss to North Miami Wednesday evening, falling 10-0 in six innings. The Lady ‘Cats are now 1-9 this spring, 0-3 in the TRC.

Kaylee Adkins and Cassidy Skinner had the only hits for Whitko. The Lady ‘Cats are back in action Monday at home against Maconaquah. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Golf

Fort Wayne Carroll at Warsaw


Warsaw was able to come away with a win by the narrowest of margins against Fort Wayne Carroll, winning the 164-164 match on a tiebreaker.

Aiden Bowell, Austin Craig and Breckin Christner each shot a 39 to lead the Tigers. Dylan Barkey and Finn Bailey each shot a 47.

Warsaw competes next at the Hall of Fame Invite at Peru Saturday morning at 8 a.m.

Mishawaka at Tippecanoe Valley

Tippecanoe Valley continued its impressive start to the season with a 170-187 win over Mishawaka at Round Barn Golf Course Wednesday. The Vikings are now 7-1 this spring.

Wes Parker was the low medalist for the match, ending his night with a 38.

Valley will compete at the Joe Harris Invitational on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.

Boys Track and Field

Northridge/Warsaw at Concord


Warsaw remains undefeated in the NLC after picking up 74-58 wins over Northridge and 83-49 wins against Concord at a three-way dual meet Wednesday. The Tigers are now 4-0 in conference.

Jordan Randall is still undefeated this season after taking first in the high jump once again. James Leiter took first place in the discus as well as shot put. Tucker Curtis and Matt Marsh finished first and second in the pole vault.

Warsaw hosts the Max Truex Invitational Friday night at 6 p.m.

Wawasee/Mishawaka at NorthWood

Wawasee split its match with Mishawaka and NorthWood, defeating the Panthers but falling to the Cavemen.

Lucas Linder took first place in the 100M and 200M races. Cameron Zimmerman took first in the 300m hurdles, while Braxton Ganzalez won the discus competition.
