Tennis

Mishawaka at Warsaw


Warsaw continued a strong start to its week with its second win in as many days, defeating conference doe Mishawaka 5-0. The Lady Tigers are now 3-3 this season, 2-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference.

No. 1 singles player Addie Lind was perfect in her win, picking up a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Lind took part in one of four matches that Warsaw won without dropping a game, as No. 2 and 3 singles players Abby Nicholas and Emma Van Puffelen won 6-0, 6-0 as well.

Warsaw will look to add another win to its total Thursday evening at Wawasee.

Tippecanoe Valley at Peru

Tippecanoe Valley battled hard but was unable to come away with a win at Peru Tuesday night, falling 3-2.

Both of the Lady Viking victories came in the doubles competition, with No. 1 pairing Lily Ault and Ella Sandbakken winning 6-3, 6-4 while the No. 2 duo of Madelyn Weaver and Sarah Finney won 6-0, 6-2.

Valley will compete at the Concord Invite Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

Baseball

Warsaw at Fort Wayne Carroll


A big second inning was enough for Fort Wayne Carroll to take an early lead against Warsaw and never look back, winning 9-2 over the Tigers. Warsaw is now 5-6-1 this season.

Jette Woodward and Josh Shaprio each had a hit for the Tigers, with Woodward driving in a run. It was a tough day at the plate for Warsaw, as the team only managed three hits while striking out 12 times.

Warsaw will look to get back in the win column Friday evening at home against Concord at 5:30 p.m.

Culver Academies at Tippecanoe Valley

Tippecanoe Valley dropped its third game in a row Tuesday evening, falling 12-2 in six innings. The Vikings are now 4-6 this season.

Culver used a nine-run first inning to take a big lead it would not look back from. Markus Bernicky and Luke Tucker each drove in a run for Tippy Valley. Noah Prater struck out three hitters in two innings, allowing three earned runs.

Valley is back in action Saturday morning against future conference opponent John Glenn at 10 a.m.

Wawasee at Bethany Christian

Wawasee used some early offense to pick up a nonconference win over Bethany Christian Tuesday night, winning 7-1 on the road. The Warriors are now 2-9 this spring.

Dane Cripe, Kaleb Salazar and Josh Patterson each had two hits for Wawasee, with Cripe also adding an RBI. Colt Dolsen went 1-1 with a run driven in.

The Warriors are at Goshen Friday night for a conference game. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Argos at Whitko

Whitko became the first local team to reach double figures in wins Tuesday night, defeating Argos 12-1 in five innings. The Wildcats are now 10-2 this season.

A seven-run second inning would be more than enough for Whitko to go ahead for good.

David Ousley and Jaxson Harper each had huge nights, with both players smacking two hits and driving in three runs apiece. Ousley added a triple as well. Harper was also one of four Wildcats that took the mound in the game, striking out two in two innings.

Whitko is back in action Friday evening at home against Adams Central. First pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Softball

Whitko at Huntington North

Whitko was unable to pick up a nonconference win over Huntington North Tuesday night, falling 10-0 in five innings. The Lady ‘Cats are now 1-8 this season.

Katelyn Cripe, Hannah Long and Addie Garr each had a single for Whitko. Cassidy Skinner had one strikeout on the mound.

The Lady ‘Cats are back in action Monday evening against Maconaquah. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

North Miami at Triton

Triton was unable to make it two wins in a row Tuesday night, falling 14-0 to North Miami in five innings. The Lady Trojans are now 1-11 this season and play their next game Thursday at 5 p.m. at Bremen.

Girls Track and Field

Northridge/Goshen at Warsaw


It was another successful day for the Warsaw track and field team Tuesday, as the Lady Tigers won their three-way conference meet with a score of 115.

Joesfina Rastrelli continued her incredible spring with two more wins in the 800 and 1600-meter races. Sammi Rastrelli enjoyed a win in the 3200-meter. Leila Knepp finished in first in the long jump while taking second place in the high jump behind fellow Lady Tiger Anna Mellentine.

Warsaw will compete Friday night at Mishawaka.

Wawasee/Plymouth at Mishawaka

Wawasee took third place in a three-way conference match against Plymouth and Mishawaka Tuesday night.

Brooklynn Gibson took first place in shot put and second in discus, only trailing fellow Warrior Emma Yoder. Mia Hodgson placed second in the 3200-meter race while Trinity LaJoice finished second in the 300-meter hurdles.

Whitko/Lakeland Christian/Northfield at Manchester

Whitko remains undefeated in the Three Rivers Conference after narrowly defeating Manchester and Northfield, as well as Lakeland Christian, in a four-way match Tuesday evening. Whitko finished the night with 74 points, narrowly edging out Manchester’s 73.

Emerson Harper and Gwen Howard continued their outstanding seasons by winning all four of their events once again. Harper won the long jump as well as the 100 and 200M races. Howard took first in the shot put, discus and 400M. The duo teamed up to take first in the 4x400M as well.

Coed Track and Field

Tippecanoe Valley/Caston at Culver Academies


Both the Tippecanoe Valley boys and girls track and field teams took second place in a three-way meet against Caston and Culver Academies Tuesday evening.

On the boys side, Wade Jones took first place in both the 100M and 200M dashes. Dalton Alber won the shot put. Eric Burke and Tristyn Ragon finished 1-2 in the high jump competition. Cody Black, Cody Eastgate, Jamison Phillips and Brandon Stiles took first in the 4x100M relay.

For the girls, Kelsey Cox won the shot put. Chesnee Miller took second place in a trio of events, including the long jump and 800M. Carlee Snyder took second place in the high jump.

Tennis
