Pessimistic Outlook

Editor, Times-Union:

Do you think that America has changed? I do.

We’re no longer the United States any more, but red states, blue states or purple states. When I watch the news, the newscasters talk about a divided nation from voting rights, abortion, guns, the wall and female sports.

We no longer believe in justice now, we want revenge. We may talk justice, but if we don’t get the verdict we wanted, we riot and burn the town.

Schools no longer teach the “3 R’s,” but teach what is wrong with America.

America no longer compromises, but my way or the highway. We no longer listen to the opposite view than our own values. America no longer believes in the American dream. We no longer work, but we sit on the sofa and play video games. In one hand have a slice of pizza and the other hand a Miller Lite, waiting for a government check.

Will America become united again? Since I’m a pessimist, I doubt it.
