National Day Of Prayer Is May 4

The local observance will be May 4 at noon at the Winona Heritage Room. For those who cannot attend the noon session, it will be broadcast at 7 p.m. on WIOE; video streamed at www.wioe.com/fumc.shtml; and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/KosciuskoNDP/.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Drew Flamm, president of Grace College and Seminary.
Flamm holds a bachelor’s degree in comprehensive communication from Cedarville University, a master’s in communication and leadership from Gonzaga University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Indiana State University. Flamm and his wife, Stephanie, live in Winona Lake with their three sons.
Representatives from the community will be leading prayers for seven focus areas. They are ministry and missions, Bonnie Swanson, executive pastor of ministries at Warsaw Community Church; families, Mason Metzger, accessibility advocate; education, Rebecca Monsma, principal of Lakeland Christian Academy; media, Karen Baker, marketing consultant for WFRN - FM radio 104.7; business, Rod Mayer, president of Medartis USA; military, Joseph E. Banks III, retired master sergeant major for the Indiana National Guard; and government, Joseph Thallemer, Warsaw mayor.
Music will be provided by The Gospel Brass Quintet, which includes Dan Buchman, Doug Hast, Carol Fletcher - trumpets, Maxim Potashov - baritone and Ali Schlemmer - tuba. Song leaders will be Kathryn Monsma and Maegan McFarland.
The Winona Lake Community Church, formerly Winona Lake Free Methodist, will be open for anyone who like to pray for the country from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 4 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 5.
