Golf

Manchester/Tippecanoe Valley/Triton/Whitko at Manchester Invite


Four local area teams competed at the Manchester Invite Saturday afternoon at Sycamore Golf Course. The nine-team tournament was won by Northridge with a score of 299. Tippecanoe Valley came in second place with a 310, a new school best. Manchester took fifth, Triton eighth and Whitko ninth.

It was a special day for Valley’s Greg Miller, as he finished his day with the best score on the course, a 66. The Squires were led by an 81 from Connor Trump, while Tucker Worsham’s 91 paced all Triton players. Whitko’s Noah Burnsworth finished with an 89.

All four teams are back in action this week at various tournaments in the area.

Warsaw at Lake Central Classic

Warsaw took 13thplace in a very competitive field at the Lake Central Classic at Sandy Pines golf course Saturday morning. Warsaw’s score of 336 was just ten strokes away from a top ten finish.

Austin Craig had a team-best score of 79 to lead his team. Aidan Bowell was not far behind, finishing his round with an 82.

Warsaw hosts Triton for a match at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Girls Track and Field

Manchester/Wawasee/Whitko at Turtle Town Relays


It was a very successful day at the Turtle Town Relays of Churubusco for the three local teams competing. Manchester took first place in the Black division with a score of 105.

The Lady Squires’ Kadence Fox was the high point earner for the Black division, finishing with 30 points and finishing in first in the 1600 and 3200 meter races. Ayla Cashdollar of Manchester finished in second in both races.

For Whitko, sophomore Gwen Howard had another outstanding day, taking first in the shot put in both Black and Gold divisions with a score 43’6.5”. Howard also earned a second place finish in discus as well as a third place finish in the 400 meter.

Wawasee’s Emma Yoder earned another first place in discus, as the Warriors finished the day in eighth.

Baseball

Leo at Warsaw


Warsaw split its doubleheader with Leo Saturday morning, dropping the first game 12-4 before coming back to win game two 8-2. The Tigers are now 5-4-1 this season.

Logan O’Malley had two RBIs in game one while Kellan Bailey added a double. In game two, Cohen Heady had a double and two runs driven in, while Bailey added two more hits and two more RBIs. Robbie Nelson gave up no earned runs in 5.2 innings of work in game two.

The Tigers are back in action at 5 p.m. Monday night when the team travels to Nappanee to take on conference foe NorthWood.

Tippecanoe Valley/Wawasee at Wawasee Invitational

It was a mixed bag for Wawasee and Tippecanoe Valley at a tournament hosted by the Warriors Saturday morning. Wawasee went 0-2 with losses to Jimtown and DeKalb while the Vikings went 1-0 with a win over DeKalb. Wawasee is now 1-8 while Tippy Valley improves to 4-3.

Wawasee picked up its first win of the season Friday night with a 1-0 victory over NorthWood.

Both teams are back in action Monday afternoon with Tippecanoe Valley on the road against rival Rochester at 5 p.m., while Wawasee remains at home to host conference rival Northridge at 5:30.

Churubusco at Manchester

After having its four-game winning streak snapped by Columbia City Friday, Manchester got back into the win column Saturday morning with a 8-5 victory over Churubusco. The Squires are now 6-5 this spring.

It was a standout day for Ethan Hendrix, as the sophomore had three hits, one of them a home run, three runs scored and two more driven in. Evan Martynowicz had two hits and two RBIs.

Manchester plays its next game Monday at Northfield. First pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Pioneer at Triton

Triton earned a split in its conference doubleheader with Pioneer on Saturday, winning the first game 7-6 before dropping the second 3-0. The Trojans are now 4-8, 1-3 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.

Drew Bingamon continued his hot start to the season in game one, tallying three hits and driving in a run. Bingamon also threw a complete game and got the win, striking out three and giving up two earned runs. Isaiah Vaca also added a hit and a run driven in.

The Trojans play at Bethany Christian Monday afternoon at 5 p.m.

Lakeland at Whitko

An impressive start to the Whitko baseball season continued Friday night as the team earned a 4-0 shutout win over Lakeland. The Wildcats are now 8-2 this spring.

Max Platt was tremendous on the mound, giving up no runs and just one hit over five innings of work while striking out two. Easton Grable stole three bases while Riley Harman had three RBIs.

Whitko plays at Peru Monday night starting at 6 p.m.

Softball

Adams Central at Tippecanoe Valley


Tippecanoe Valley lost a high-scoring affair to Adams Central Saturday morning, falling 18-12 at home. The Lady Vikings are now 6-3 this season.

It was a three-RBI night for Dalynne Bussard, who had two hits and was one of four Valley players to hit a home run. Mackaylie Costello, Brittany Benn and Madi Smith also went yard for Valley.

Tippy Valley plays at Rochester at 5 p.m. Monday evening.

Whitko at Wawasee

Wawasee defeated Whitko in the opening round of its home invitational Saturday, winning 2-1. The Warriors are now 8-5 this season while the Lady ‘Cats fall to 1-6.

It was the definition of a pitcher’s duel, as Wawasee starter Haylee Allen struck out 16 while Whitko starter Addie Garr struck out 12. Whitko’s Hope Bradley had the lone RBI in the game.

The Warriors and Lady ‘Cats are both on the road Monday, with Wawasee traveling to Northridge and Whitko playing at Peru. Both games begin at 5:30 p.m.

Columbia City at Manchester

Manchester got into an early hole and was unable to escape Saturday morning, falling 15-3 to Columbia City in five innings. The Lady Squires are now 2-10-1 this spring.

Karsyn Kamphues led Manchester with three hits and a run batted in. Hadley West had her team’s lone extra-base hit, hitting a triple.

Manchester plays at Northfield at 5 p.m. Monday.

Warsaw at Plymouth

Warsaw suffered a 12-2 loss in six innings at the hands of Plymouth Friday night. The Lady Tigers are now 1-8 this spring, 1-2 in the Northern Lakes Conference.

Kali Ousley drove in both runs for Warsaw, going 1-3 with a double. Taylor Myers led the team in hits with two.

The Lady Tigers host NorthWood at 5:30 p.m. Monday evening.

Tennis

Manchester at Canterbury Invite


With wet courts causing a cancellation of the Canterbury invite, Manchester hosted matches against Fort Wayne Canterbury and Mississinewa Saturday afternoon. The Lady Squires defeated Canterbury 4-1 and was tied 1-1 with Mississinewa before weather caused a delay. Manchester is currently 6-0.

No. 1 singles player Sarah Kerlin was dominant in her first match of the day, winning 6-2, 6-0. The No. 1 doubles team of Delani Henderson and Carleigh Blevins won 6-0, 6-1.

Manchester is scheduled to play at Rochester in a Three Rivers Conference match Monday at 5 p.m.

Golf

Manchester/Tippecanoe Valley/Triton/Whitko at Manchester Invite

Manchester/Wawasee/Whitko at Turtle Town Relays


It was a very successful day at the Turtle Town Relays of Churubusco for the three local teams competing. Manchester took first place in the Black division with a score of 105.

The Lady Squires’ Kadence Fox was the high point earner for the Black division, finishing with 30 points and finishing in first in the 1600 and 3200 meter races. Ayla Cashdollar of Manchester finished in second in both races.

For Whitko, sophomore Gwen Howard had another outstanding day, taking first in the shot put in both Black and Gold divisions with a score 43’6.5”. Howard also earned a second place finish in discus as well as a third place finish in the 400 meter.

Wawasee’s Emma Yoder earned another first place in discus, as the Warriors finished the day in eighth.

Baseball

Leo at Warsaw


Warsaw split its doubleheader with Leo Saturday morning, dropping the first game 12-4 before coming back to win game two 8-2. The Tigers are now 5-4-1 this season.

Logan O’Malley had two RBIs in game one while Kellan Bailey added a double. In game two, Cohen Heady had a double and two runs driven in, while Bailey added two more hits and two more RBIs. Robbie Nelson gave up no earned runs in 5.2 innings of work in game two.

Churubusco at Manchester

After having its four-game winning streak snapped by Columbia City Friday, Manchester got back into the win column Saturday morning with a 8-5 victory over Churubusco. The Squires are now 6-5 this spring.

It was a standout day for Ethan Hendrix, as the sophomore had three hits, one of them a home run, three runs scored and two more driven in. Evan Martynowicz had two hits and two RBIs.

Manchester plays its next game Monday at Northfield. First pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Pioneer at Triton

Triton earned a split in its conference doubleheader with Pioneer on Saturday, winning the first game 7-6 before dropping the second 3-0. The Trojans are now 4-8, 1-3 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.

Drew Bingamon continued his hot start to the season in game one, tallying three hits and driving in a run. Bingamon also threw a complete game and got the win, striking out three and giving up two earned runs. Isaiah Vaca also added a hit and a run driven in.

The Trojans play at Bethany Christian Monday afternoon at 5 p.m.

Lakeland at Whitko

An impressive start to the Whitko baseball season continued Friday night as the team earned a 4-0 shutout win over Lakeland. The Wildcats are now 8-2 this spring.

Adams Central at Tippecanoe Valley


Tippecanoe Valley lost a high-scoring affair to Adams Central Saturday morning, falling 18-12 at home. The Lady Vikings are now 6-3 this season.

Manchester at Canterbury Invite
