Softball

Wabash at Tippecanoe Valley


It only took five innings for Tippecanoe Valley to pick up another dominant win in its Three Rivers Conference opener Wednesday night. As the Lady Vikings defeated Wabash 20-1. Tippy Valley has won six games in a row and improves to 6-1.

It was a massive game for Corinna Stiles, who drove in seven runs on four hits, including a home run. Kahlyn Manns drove in four runs on three hits, one of which being a triple. Daylnne Bussard struck out 10 hitters in five innings of work.

The Lady Vikings host Adams Central for a double header Saturday morning starting at 10 a.m.

Warsaw at Goshen

Warsaw suffered another five-inning defeat in the team’s Northern Lakes Conference opener Wednesday evening, falling 10-0 to Goshen, The Lady Tigers are now 0-7 this spring.

Warsaw was no-hit in the contest, but Jadelyn Walters drew two walks. The Lady Tigers play at Plymouth Friday evening.

Wawasee at Mishawaka

Wawasee saw its three-game winning streak snapped by Mishawaka Wednesday night in a 4-1 loss. The Warriors are now 6-3 this season.

Arisai Garcia drove in the lone Wawasee run while Ava Couture led the team with two hits, one of them a triple. Haylee Allen struck out eight Mishawaka hitters in the circle.

The Warriors continue conference play Friday night with a home game against NorthWood at 5 p.m.

Manchester at Southwood

Manchester battled valiantly but ended up coming up just short against Southwood Wednesday evening, losing 6-5 in the team’s Three Rivers Conference opener. The Lady Squires are now 1-8-1 this season.

Samantha Shock hit a home run and drove in two runs for Manchester. Paxton Baker had two hits, one of which was a double. Olivia Neal also added two hits and an RBI. Only three of the six runs allowed by the Lady Squires were earned.

Manchester plays its next game Saturday morning against Columbia City with first pitch at 11 a.m.

Whitko at Rochester

Whitko got down big early and was unable to recover in its Three Rivers Conference opener against Rochester Wednesday evening, falling 12-1. The Lady ‘Cats are now 1-3.

Cassidy Skinner had two hits in two at bats while Addie Garr drove in the lone Whitko run on a solo home run.

The Lady ‘Cats play their next game Friday at 5:30 at Central Noble.

Baseball

Goshen at Warsaw


Warsaw baseball was unable to get anything going against conference foe Goshen Wednesday night, falling 10-0 at home. The Tigers are now 3-3-1, 1-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference.

Warsaw was only able to manage three hits in the game, two of them coming off the bat of Austin Polk, who added a double. Jette Woodward and Josh Shapiro each walked twice.

The Tigers host conference rival Plymouth Friday night at 5:30 looking to get back on track.

Wabash at Tippecanoe Valley

Tippecanoe Valley earned a dramatic win over reigning Three Rivers Conference champs Wabash Wednesday evening, winning 3-2 in the team’s Three Rivers Conference opener. The Vikings are now 2-3.

Markus Bernicky drove in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk it off for Valley. Cameron Maunel was dominant in his start, giving up just three hits and striking out three in five innings of work.

Tippy Valley plays at DeKalb Saturday morning, with first pitch scheduled for 10 a.m.

Mishawaka at Wawasee

Wawasee is still searching for its first win after falling 10-4 to Mishawaka Wednesday night. The Warriors are no 0-6 this spring, 0-2 in the Northern Lakes Conference.

Dylan Stump led the team in hits with two and also gave up just one earned run in four innings of work. Kaleb Salazar and Dane Cripe each added an RBI for the Warriors.  

The Warriors travel to NorthWood Friday night for a conference game against the Panthers. First pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.

Manchester at Southwood

Manchester won its fourth game in a row as well as its Three Rivers Conference opener Wednesday night, defeating Southwood 9-2. The Squires are now 5-4 this season.

Evan Estep and Garrett Sites each drove in two runs for Manchester, with each player going deep for a home run. Ethan Hendrix also went yard for his one hit of the game. Gavin Martin gave up no runs in three innings of work.

The Squires play at Columbia City Friday evening at 5:30 p.m.

Whitko at Rochester

Whitko’s six-game winning streak was stopped in its tracks by Rochester Wednesday evening, falling 6-1 on the road in the team’s Three Rivers Conference opener. The Wildcats are now 7-2 this spring.

The lone Whitko run was driven in by Jaxon Harper. The team is back in action Friday night against Lakeland at home. First pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

North Judson at Triton

Triton had little success in the second game of a home-and-home with North Judson Wednesday night, falling 14-2 at home. The Trojans are now 3-7 this season, 0-2 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.

Drew Bingamon had another RBI for Triton. Jacob Pitney drew three walks in three plate appearances.

The Trojans host Pioneer for a doubleheader Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 10 a.m.

Tennis

Warsaw at Northridge


Warsaw picked up its first victory of the season Wednesday afternoon, defeating Northridge 4-1 to improve to 1-2 this season, 1-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference.

Addie Lind and Emma Van Puffelen continued their hot starts to the season, with Lind picking up a 6-1, 6-1 victory while Van Puffelen won 6-0, 6-2.

The Lady Tigers host Fort Wayne Carroll on Monday night at 5 p.m.

Rochester at Whitko

Whitko earned an impressive 5-0 victory over Rochester Wednesday evening.

Each of the five Lady ‘Cats win came in straight sets. No. 1 singles competitor Abbi Frank won her match 6-2, 6-0. No. 2 Anna Arter won 6-4, 6-2.

Boys Basketball

Penn High School’s Markus Burton was named Indiana’s Mr. Basketball Wednesday night after a stellar senior season. Burton is the third Mr. Basketball to be coached by former Warsaw head coach Al Rhodes, joining Warsaw’s Jeff Grose (1985) and Kevin Ault (1986).

Rhodes announced his retirement from his position as Penn head basketball coach on Tuesday. Rhodes coached at Warsaw from 1981 to 2002, compiling a record of 405-132, 14 sectional titles, seven regional titles and the 1984 state championship.

Softball

Drew Bingamon had another RBI for Triton. Jacob Pitney drew three walks in three plate appearances.

The Trojans host Pioneer for a doubleheader Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 10 a.m.
