Warsaw at Huntington North
Warsaw rallied late but was unable to come away with a win on the road against Huntington North Thursday night, falling 11-10. The Tigers are now 1-1-1 this spring.
The Tigers scored five runs in the final two innings but were unable to finish off the comeback. Leadoff hitter Jette Woodward had two hits including a solo home run. Kellen Bailey had two hits, one double, one triple and an RBI. Austin Polk drove in two runs and Zac Miller gave up zero earned runs in 1.2 innings pitched.
Warsaw hosts Elkhart Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Columbia City at Wawasee
It was a high-scoring affair in Syracuse Thursday night as Columbia City defeated Wawasee 19-9 in five innings. The Warriors are still searching for their first win of the season, now sitting at 0-3.
Reed Reidenbach drove in two runs and scored two of his own. Kaleb Salazar had three hits in three at bats, hitting a double and driving in a run. Hunter Fiedeke had two hits as well.
Wawasee hosts Warsaw Monday evening at 5 p.m. to begin conference play.
Elkhart Christian at Triton
A late surge from Triton led to a nail-biting win Thurday night as the Trojans defeated Elkhart Christian 10-9. Triton is now 3-3 this spring.
The Trojans scored eight runs in their final two trips to the plate in order to get the comeback victory. Drew Bingamon had a huge day, tallying four hits, two doubles and driving in three runs. Isaiah Vaca had two sacrifices that led to two runs. Hunter Schaetzle added two RBIs as well.
Triton hosts Tri-Central for a doubleheader starting at Saturday morning with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
Softball
Winamac at Tippecanoe Valley
A hot start offensively paved the way to victory for Tippecanoe Valley Thursday evening, as the Lady Vikings defeated Winamac 7-6 at home. Valley improves to 2-1 this season.
Corinna Stiles had three RBIs on two hits, one triple and a home run. It was one of three home runs on the day for Valley hitters, with Madi Smith and Maddie Thompson going deep as well. Dalynne Bussard has nine strikeouts in seven innings of work.
The Lady Vikings play at John Glenn Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
Argos at Whitko
Whitko picked up its first win of the season in dominating fashion Thursday evening, defeating Argos 15-5 in five innings. The Lady ‘Cats are now 1-2 this spring.
It was a three-RBI night for Cassidy Skinner, who had three hits in three at bats, finishing a home run short of the cycle. Skinner also gave up one run in two innings while striking out six. Hope Bradley also added two RBIs and scored three runs of her own.
Whitko’s next game is Wednesday night at Rochester. First pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.
Triton at Goshen
Triton is still searching for its first win of the season after falling 11-1 to Goshen in five innings Thursday night. The Lady Trojans are now 0-6 this spring. Triton plays at Wawasee Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
Tennis
Knox at Tippecanoe Valley
It was a dominant performance for Tippecanoe Valley on the tennis court Thursday night as the Lady Vikings defeated Knox 5-0 to improve to 2-0 this season.
All five victories for Tippy Valley came in straight sets. No. 2 singles player Karegan Callahan won her match 6-1, 6-0 while No. 3 singles competitor Talia Holder won 6-0, 6-1.
Valley plays its next matches Saturday at the Plymouth Invite.
Manchester at Wabash
Manchester picked up its first conference win of the season and remains undefeated after beating Wabash 5-0 Thursday evening. The Lady Squires are now 2-0, 1-0 in the Three Rivers Conference.
No. 2 singles player Myla Crozier was dominant in her victory, winning 6-2, 6-0. The No. 2 doubles pairing of Addison Brubaker and Kate Schroll were flawless in their win, going 6-0, 6-0.
Manchester plays at Warsaw’s Tiger Tournament Saturday morning starting at 9 a.m.
Golf
Triton/Fort Wayne Canterbury at Warsaw
Warsaw earned a win in a three-way match against Triton and Fort Wayne Canterbury, dominating the field with a score of 159. Triton finished in third with a score of 214.
Warsaw’s Aiden Bowell had a fantastic day, tallying a 35 to place first individually. Not far behind was Brenden Christner, who had a 38. Triton’s best finisher was Tucker Worsham, who finished with a 47.
Both teams are back in action Saturday at the Don Dicken Classic at Stonehenge Golf Course beginning at 1 p.m.
Girls Track and Field
Rochester/Lakeland Christian at Whitko
Whitko had a dominant showing in a three-way meet at home Thursday night, winning with a total of 69.5. Rochester took second with a 47 while Lakeland Christian came in third with a 16.5.
Whitko’s Emerson Harper, Gwen Howard and Nadia Rhoades swept their competition, winning four events each. Harper took first in the long jump, 100-meter and 200-meter races. Howard took first in the shot put, discus and 400-meter. Rhoades won the high jump, 800 and 1600 meter races. The trio also added a first place finish in the 4x400 relay.
