Adding To The List

Ms. Jeanne Schutz recently contributed a letter to the editor communicating a number of things “we want.” While I’ve met Ms. Schutz, I don’t know her well, but I find her to be an intelligent and well-spoken individual.
While I take no issue with her list of “we wants,” I’d like to add to the list.
WE WANT: The obvious: low inflation; a controlled border; a fiscally responsible federal government; lower gasoline costs; freedom to heat our homes or cook our food with electricity or gas; freedom to choose light bulbs of our preference; reasonable taxes; fair elections; and a strong military.
Others, less obvious, but just as important. WE WANT: a clean and protected environment; the ability to send our children to a school of our choice; strong support for our police; a fair and manageable immigration process; a government that is open, transparent and accountable; government leaders that are high energy and hardworking; a country that is genuinely grounded on family moral religious values; elected officials that will focus on getting the job done instead of discrediting the opposition; term limits for all of our elected officials; teachers and educators that are driven to teach our children instead of indoctrinating them regarding socialism, gender identity and promoting a Godless society; a clear understanding that there is an American Dream available to all; and a country that is generous with a hand up to all who want and need it, without exacerbating poverty by creating a dependency of handouts.
Finally, We Want college students to pay their own loans; America to develop its own oil; girls athletics where only girls can compete with girls; and to individually decide if we want to get a vaccine or wear a mask.
I’m sure others can add to the list; however these are what come to my mind.
The great thing about America is that we can have what we want. The levers available to us are our churches, our charitable organizations and the ballot box.
