Supervisor: Karen Myers, assistant manager
What are your job responsibilities: Teller work; cash handling, check handling, accuracy, financial knowledgeability, friendly service and any other responsibilities assigned to me.
How has this position been helpful to you? It has definitely helped me get useful insight in regards to banking, financial well-being and management and other aspects of money use in general.
What have you learned? I have learned to utilize the platform that conducts transactions. I have learned how to handle checks and money. I have practiced a lot of problem-solving skills, especially with online banking. I have gained a lot of experience with certain situations that will help me in the future with other jobs. I have grasped a bigger perspective working at TCU that I believe will help me with future finance careers.
How is this job preparing you for the future? With self-discipline, learning/growing opportunities, daily work and experience with members. Working at TCU has helped me gain a huge boost in confidence on my career decision. I know I would not want to work at a bank my whole life, but something behind it. I like the numbers, the processing, and the other important branches that build the credit unions/banks together.
What do you like about this job? The accountability. They treat me like everyone else, they push me like everyone else and they discipline me the same. I like this a lot because it pushes me to keep improving with my colleagues.
What Career Center classes have you taken in your pathway? Accounting Fundamentals, Principles of Business Management, Advanced Accounting, Work Based Learning Capstone.
Your Career and College Plans: I plan to get my associates at Ivy Tech, then transfer to Purdue Fort Wayne for my bachelor’s and possibly master’s.

What duties does this student perform? Deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, opening and closing our branch, problem solving with members, making debit cards.
How is this job preparing this student for the future? She mentioned she wants to continue her education in finance/accounting, working here has given her the basic skills for her own financial plan and also how to help others with their financial plans.
What do you think of the WACC Work-Based Learning program? I personally love this program, as it helps our young people to develop in the professional business world - preparing them as an individual and in a team atmosphere.
Why were you willing to partner with the WACC in this program? I have always had the mentality that our young people are our future - I personally want to help our young people to learn and grow in a professional business environment.
