In game one, the Lady Squires would get out to an early advantage after scoring the first four points. It wouldn’t take long for the similar-skill levels to become apparent. Every point was a grueling battle that saw each team sending the ball to the other side multiple times. Valley would respond in a big way to tie game one at 5-5.
The first big run of the match would come with Valley trailing 7-8. The Lady Vikings would rip off seven straight points to take a 14-8 lead it would not surrender. Tippy Valley would go on to take set one 25-18 on an Erika Henderson ace.
Similar to set one, the Lady Squires would start off strong in set two. Manchester would score the first three points of the set, and go up 8-1 before forcing Tippy Valley to call a timeout. With the Lady Squires up 16-10, the Lady Vikings would go on another big run with Mackaylie Costello serving. Tippy Valley would rattle off nine straight points to take a 19-16 lead, and eventually go up two sets to zero after a 25-20 win.
It would be the last set Manchester would lose. The Lady Squires’ Hadley West opened up game three with back-to-back aces. After going up early in the two previous sets before allowing a comeback, Manchester would make the proper adjustments to take control of the match. The Squires would remain in control at 16-13 before allowing a Valley run and an 18-18 tie. This time it would be the Lady Squires with the final run as the team scored four straight points to pull away for a 25-21 victory.
In the fourth set, nobody would get out to an early lead. The teams traded points to the tune of eight ties before the first three-point lead was taken by Tippy Valley at 17-14. The Lady Squires made sure the lead didn’t last long. Manchester would will themselves to six straight points trailing 20-18 to flip the scoreboard to 24-20 before eventually winning 25-21.
Another highly contested set would decide the match. Both teams continued trading points before it looked as if Manchester found the breakthrough, getting to 14-10. Not ones to go down easily on their home court, the Lady Vikings would tie the game at 14. Manchester would score the final two points to win the set and the match.
