AKRON - Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation (TVSC) has once again been awarded a grant from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security the fiscal year 2023 Secured School Safety Grant Program for $100,000.

The grant is a competitive and matching grant. Of the 425 school district awardees, TVSC was one of only 70 eligible and awarded the maximum grant award this grant cycle. This is the fifth consecutive year TVSC has been a maximum grant awardee, according to a news release from TVSC.

In May 2021, TVSC conducted a district-wide threat assessment through Safe Havens International through the Secured School Safety grant. Through recommendations of the assessment and priority lists compiled by the TVSC Safety Team, the projects for 2022 are complete and the projects will begin immediately for the grant. The SSSG grant period is Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, 2023.

TVSC continues to be an honored recipient in this critical partnership to care for its schools, staff, students, families and community, the release states. All TVSC administrators have earned, with new administrators earning, the school safety specialist or advanced school safety specialist status as designated through the Indiana Department of Education’s School Safety Academy.
