Warsaw vs. Elkhart
Warsaw volleyball overcame a slow start to come back and defeat Elkhart 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-23) in the opening game of IHSAA 4A Sectional 4 at Penn High School Thursday. The Tigers are now 21-8 this fall.
Kaylee Weeks had a team-high 15 kills and was one of three Tiger players to record an ace. Avery Hales had 40 assists and 20 digs. Ellie Hepler led the team in digs with 44. Leah Henderson and Maggie Hollon combined for six blocks.
Warsaw will face off with Penn in the sectional semifinal Saturday morning at 11 a.m. The Tigers will look to avenge an early season loss to the Kingsmen and advance to the final.
Wawasee vs. West Noble
Wawasee volleyball’s season will continue onto the semifinal of IHSAA 3A Sectional 20 after the Warriors picked up a 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-7) victory over West Noble in Thursday’s opening round. Wawasee is now 20-12 this season and will face off with NorthWood Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
Triton vs. Culver Community
Triton volleyball got back to its winning ways in the opening round of IHSAA 1A Sectional 50 Thursday, defeating Culver Community 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-14) to move onto the semifinals. The Trojans are now 17-14.
Addyson Viers and Macie Hensley each had 10 kills for Triton. Viers also added two aces and three blocks. Hannah Snyder finished her evening with 34 assists. The Trojans will meet Oregon-Davis in the semifinal at 12 p.m. Saturday.
Lakeland Christian vs. Southern Wells
Lakeland Christian picked up its second win in a row in the opening round of IHSAA 1A Sectional 53 Thursday, defeating Southern Wells 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-18). The Cougars are now 10-14 this season.
Addisyn Daley led LCA in kills with 12 and tied Leah Forshtay for the team lead with three aces. Nevaeh Lowe had four blocks. The Cougars will play Northfield in their semifinal match at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Middle School Football
Lakeview vs Maple Creek
Lakeview Middle School picked up a big win in football Thursday night, defeating Maple Creek 27-7 in the conference semifinal game. The team used its smash mouth brand of offense to win the physical game. Lakeview will face Woodside for the championship next week.
