NORTH MANCHESTER - Spartan Smash 2022 is set for Nov. 19 at the North Manchester campus of Manchester University.

At the invitational, high school players will compete in a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament for scholarships and bragging rights. Entry in the tournament is free.

Each of the top eight players will be eligible for a $3,000 Esports Scholarship award to attend Manchester. This would be in addition to any other financial aid for which the students would otherwise qualify.

Coaches are encouraged to bring their entire teams, but the Spartan Smash is open to all high school players. All participants will be treated to lunch and receive a Manchester esports swag bag.

More than 20 high schools were represented at the 2021 tournament. The top finishers were from Hobart, DeKalb, Carmel and Mississinewa high schools.

Updates and registration information to come at @MU_esport on Twitter. The tournament bracket will be available the morning of Spartan Smash.

Manchester's Smash team won the Great Lakes championship three times in a row, and it competed in the 2022 Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup.

Scholarships are available at Manchester for League of Legends, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros., Fortnite, Overwatch and Valorant.
