Raymond Truex (R) recently was honored by the Atwood Volunteer Fire Department and John Grolich, Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association (IVFA) for his 50 years of service to the Atwood  Volunteer Fire Department, 1971 to 2021. He has retired from the department. Atwood Fire Chief Chad Heckaman presented Truex with a plaque and gold ax. Grolich presented Truex with a 50-year service pin and lifetime member gold card, along with Heckaman and Past Fire Chief Mike Harmon. Truex became a volunteer fireman in 1971, he was brought on to the department by firemen Ray Williamson, who was also a volunteer when the department was formed in 1946. The Atwood Volunteer Fire Department, Prairie Township Trustee Julia Goon and Harrison Township Trustee Tracy Moyer appreciate the dedication and commitment volunteer firemen give to the community.
