Former Alexandria resident, Marjorie “Marge” Conwell Coleman, 93, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, at Warsaw Meadows in Warsaw following an extended illness.

She was born on Dec. 25, 1928, in Lafayette, to Roy and Zella Kennedy Cain and had resided in Alexandria for several years since 1965. For several years she had worked as a supervisor in the Physics Building of Purdue University. She had also worked at Sears in Lafayette. For 20 years, Marge worked in the cafeteria at Marie Thurston Elementary School in Alexandria, retiring in 1986 as head cook. She was a member of the former Alexandria First United Methodist Church and the National Association of Widowed Persons.

Survivors are two sons, Donald (Anna) Conwell, Pierceton; Dennis (Tammy) Conwell, Yorktown; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Conwell in 1982; husband, Charles Guion in 1986; husband, Cecil Coleman in 2008; her son, Michael Conwell in 2015.

Services honoring Marjorie’s life and legacy will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. The family will receive friends after 1 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alexandria Tiger Readers program or any charity of the donor’s choice.
