Warsaw at DAC/NLC Shootout
It was a very good weekend for the Warsaw girls basketball team as the Tigers went 2-0 at the DAC/NLC Shootout on Saturday. Warsaw upset No. 10 ranked Crown Point 48-42 in its first game before taking down Merillville 67-49 in the second contest. The Tigers have won four games in a row after dropping their season opener and move to 4-1 on the season.
Warsaw had three players explode offensively in the second game against Merrillville. Brooke Zartman had 19 points, Joslyn Bricker had 18 and Brooke Winchester finished with 15. Bricker also led the team in rebounding with six.
The Tigers head to Penn Tuesday for another game on the road.
Wawasee at Triton
Triton kept it rolling early on in the season by defeating Wawasee 48-22 at home Saturday. The Trojans are now 5-1 this winter while Wawasee falls to 4-3.
It was another spectacular game for Triton’s junior center Addyson Viers. Viers finished her night with 15 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots. Kinsey Atkins led the Troians in scoring with 16 points. Kaydence Shepherd and Olivia Horn each had six points for the Warriors.
Triton hosts NorthWood on Tuesday while Wawasee has a short break before hosting West Noble on November 29.
Tippecanoe Valley at John Glenn
Tippecanoe Valley picked up a win for the second straight game Saturday, defeating John Glenn 48-31 on the road. The Lady Vikings are now 5-2 this season.
Kaydence Mellott led all scorers with 18 points. Corinna Stiles and Lily Ault had 12 points each for Tippy Valley. The Lady Vikings begin Three Rivers Conference play Tuesday at Maconaquah.
Manchester at Winamac
Manchester picked up its second win in three tries Saturday, defeating Winamac 42-39 on the road. The Lady Squires are now 2-4 this season.
Manchester came back from a seven-point deficit after a quarter, outscoring the home team in each of the next three quarters. Brookelynn Buzzard had 19 points, four rebounds and three assists. Hadley West contributed seven rebounds.
The Lady Squires travel to Oak Hill Saturday.
Southern Wells at Whitko
Whitko picked up a win at home Saturday, defeating Southern Wells 50-48 to improve to 3-3 on the year. Whitko hosts Fort Wayne Canterbury on November 29.
NCAA Cross Country
The NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships were held at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater Oklahoma Saturday. Former Warsaw cross country runner and Butler senior Mia Beckham finished 101 out of 253 runners as an individual qualifier with a time of 20:37.4. North Carolina State won the team championship.
