WINONA LAKE - Grace’s men’s basketball team rocketed up the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, released on Wednesday.

The Lancers jumped to No. 3 in Wednesday’s poll after a fast 6-0 start to the season.

The poll makes history for Grace. It’s the highest Grace has been ranked in the NAIA Div. I era. The Lancers have been ranked in the top-five before, including No. 1 overall, during the NAIA Div. II era.

Grace was previously voted eighth in the NAIA preseason poll, but the Lancers jumped five spots and have 515 total points from the national raters.

The top-five consists of No. 1 Arizona Christian (560 points), No. 2 Thomas More (542), No. 3 Grace (515), No. 4 Idaho (503) and No. 5 Jamestown (479). Fellow Crossroads League member Marian sits at No. 6.

The league is also represented in the poll by No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan as well as Huntington and Bethel who are receiving votes.

Grace is averaging nearly 94 points per game during its unbeaten start, and they are holding opponents to 68 points per contest.

The Lancers rank second in the NAIA in field goal percentage (57.6 percent), second in assists per game (22.8), and ninth in blocks per game (5.3).

The Lancers open Crossroads League play on Saturday against Spring Arbor. The doubleheader at home begins with the women's matchup at 1 p.m. followed by the men's game at 3 p.m.

For the first time in program history, Grace’s women’s basketball has earned national recognition in the NAIA Division One coaches poll.

The Lady Lancers, who transitioned to division one in the fall of 2020, landed in the receiving votes portion of the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.

Grace received 19 points in the poll after a 4-1 start to the season. The Lady Lancers currently boast a 31.8 point margin of victory, with their only loss coming to No. 4 Carroll.

Grace is the third highest ranked Crossroads League school in the coaches poll, as they are joined by Indiana Wesleyan (No. 4) and Marian (No. 8), who both earn top 10 billing for the league.

The Lady Lancers will end a six-game homestead on Saturday as they get their first taste of conference play this season. Grace will host Spring Arbor at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
