Claypool Bans Farm Animals in Town

Prior to this decision, there was no active ordinance regarding farm animals. In-town residents with chickens on their properties will have 60 days to remove them.
In new business, Chris Harrison, of Commonwealth Engineering Inc., spoke to the Council on developing an asset management plan, which is required by the Indiana Financial Authority before applying to receive state revolving funds.
Harrison said Commonwealth is still working on the town's preliminary engineering review, which should be completed next month.
Andy Mouser, of Baker Tilly, spoke on tax increment finance (TIF) area setup for the water utility, pending its sale to Indiana American Water in spring 2023. The Council voted to move forward with pursuing TIF.
In other business:
• The Council renewed Claypool's terminal services data agreement with the county for use in police vehicles at $525 for 2023.
• Town Marshal Ben Sanders reported 238 reserve hours and 200 calls for service in October.
• Sanders thanked the county prosecutor’s office for their assistance in purchasing two new tasers for the department.
The Council will next meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 20.
