Baseball

Goshen at Warsaw

MISHAWAKA – It took a late comeback but Warsaw is moving forward in their IHSAA 4A Sectional 4 tournament after defeating Goshen 9-8 at Penn High School Thursday. The Tigers are now 15-10 after beating the RedHawks for the third time this season.

Jette Woodward would drive in the go-ahead run in what was a four-run sixth inning for the Tigers. Warsaw tallied eleven hits on the day, including multiple-hit games from Lukas Maier, Khareus Miller and Keegan Sherman. Kellen Bailey got the win out of the pen for the Tigers, giving up one run over five innings of work.

Warsaw takes on Penn Saturday morning for a chance to move to the sectional championship.

Triton at Culver Community

UNION MILLS – Triton will advance to the IHSAA 1A Sectional 50 semifinals after defeating Culver Community 11-4 in the first round Thursday. The Trojans move their record to 4-19 and have won two games in a row.

Triton couldn’t be stopped on offense in this one, as four members of the team had more than one hit. Cory Hill and Zak Greer both led the team with three hits, with Hill driving in a run. Lucas Kaufman led the team with four RBIs. Dominic Smith stole two bases.

Triton plays Oregon-Davis on Saturday for a chance to play for a sectional championship.

Softball

NorthWood at Wawasee

SYRACUSE – Wawasee will play for the IHSAA 3A Sectional 21 championship after defeating conference foe NorthWood 8-7 in the semifinal game Thursday. The Warriors record improves to 8-15 this season.

Wawasee will play Jimtown Saturday morning for a chance to move on to the regional.

South Central at Triton

LaCROSSE – Triton fell in the semifinal of its IHSAA 1A Sectional 50 tournament Thursday, losing 12-0 to South Central. Triton ends the season with a 5-16 record.

Madeline Doll had the lone hit for Triton. The Lady Trojans will return next season.
