Baseball

Wawasee at Tippecanoe Valley

ELKHART – Despite poor weather across the area Wednesday, Wawasee and Tippecanoe Valley were able to play their IHSAA 3A Sectional 21 matchup at Jimtown high school. The Warriors emerged victorious with a 5-2 win. Wawasee is getting hot at the right time, having won four straight to improve its record to 11-14. The Vikings end their season with a 6-10 record.

The Warriors got on the board early and often, scoring four runs in the first three innings. It was a balanced scoring attack for Wawasee, as four players notched RBIs. Ty Brooks led all hitters with two hits. Grant Brooks got the start for the Warriors,m striking out nine in four innings and giving up two unearned runs.

Tippecanoe Valley was able to manage plenty of hits, but had a hard time getting runs on the board. Three different Vikings had two hits, led by Noah Prater who also drove in a run. Annakin Pettit also had two knocks. Markus Bernicky made the start for Tippy Valley, giving up two earned runs in three innings.

Wawasee awaits the winner of Lakeland and West Noble in the Sectional semifinal Saturday.

Girls Tennis

Warsaw vs Peru

CULVER – Warsaw added another trophy to its cabinet Wednesday, defeating Peru 3-2 in the regional championship.

The Tigers took two victories in singles and one in doubles competition to secure the win. Addie Lind won her No. 1 singles match in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5. Regan Brouwer won in No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1. The senior pairing of Marie Frazzetta and Megan Mishler picked up the No. 1 doubles win to seal the deal. The final score of the match was 6-2, 6-3.

Warsaw will travel back to Culver Saturday to compete in the semi-state tournament.
