Local High School Sports Recaps For 5/10

Mishawaka at Wawasee
SYRACUSE – Wawasee picked up its second conference win in as many days Tuesday, defeating Mishawaka 7-6 on Senior Night. The Warriors are now 6-11, 3-7 in the Northern Lakes Conference.
It was a big day for Myles Everingham, who had three RBIs on a base hit and sacrifice fly. Three Warriors had two hits on the day, with all three players driving in a run. Grant Brooks struck out three in four innings while giving up two earned runs.
Wawasee takes on Plymouth on the road Friday.
South Central at Tippecanoe Valley
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley was unable to pick up a Senior Night win as the team fell 8-7 in a contest with South Central Tuesday. The Vikings are now 3-8 this spring.
Annakin Pettit had one of the more memorable games of the season in the area. The sophomore hit two home runs, one a grand slam, to drive in six runs for Tippy Valley. Pettit leads the team in batting average, on base percentage and home runs.
The Vikings will look to get into the win column Monday against Northfield.
Softball
Warsaw at Goshen
GOSHEN – Warsaw hit better than it has in recent games but was still unable to pull out a victory in a 12-7 loss to Goshen Tuesday. The Tigers are now 3-15, 1-9 in the NLC.
Lauren Eastwood put together a great game for Warsaw. The junior had two hits, one for extra bases, driving in four runs. Kendyll Landis also had two hits and a double, driving in two.
Warsaw will look to pick up a win Friday against Northridge.
Homestead at Manchester
NORTH MANCHESTER – Manchester played tough but was unable to come away with a victory in a 2-1 loss to Homestead Tuesday. The Lady Squires are now 4-12 this spring.
Paxton Baker had two hits for Manchester including a triple. She would score the team’s lone run. Molly Schannep pitched six innings, striking out two and giving up two runs on two hits.
Manchester is back in action Saturday at Warsaw’s Lady Tiger Tournament.
Carroll at Whitko
SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko was unable to silence the bats of Carroll in the team’s non conference showdown, falling to the visitors 9-2. The Lady’ Cats are now 4-10 this season.
Addie Garr led the team at the plate by going 3-4 with three singles and two RBIs.
Whitko will head to Kendallville to take on East Noble Friday.
Triton at North Judson
NORTH JUDSON – Triton struggled to find any offense in the team’s 5-0 loss to
North Judson Tuesday. The Lady Trojans are now 4-12, 1-4 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference this spring.
Triton will look to get back in the win column Thursday against Caston.

Lakeland Christian/South Bend Academies at Bethany Christian
GOSHEN – Lakeland Christian Academy took second place in both the boys and girls sides in a meet at Bethany Christian Tuesday.
LCA had a few athletes take first place while setting school records. On the boys side, Hunter Rice took first place in the shot put with a record 39’ 8¾” throw. Landon Gause set school records in the high jump and long jump on his way to winning both events. On the girls side, Zoe Gephart took first place in the 1600m race with a school record time of 5:51.9.

Manchester at Whitko
SOUTH WHITLEY – It was Whitko that emerged with a Three Rivers Conference victory in its contest with Manchester Tuesday, beating the visitors 4-1.
Abbi Frank won a very closely contested match in No. 3 singles play, coming away with a 7-5, 7-5 victory. Alyssa Marvel picked up the Lady Squires’ lone victory in a 6-1, 6-0 No. 2 singles win.
Bethany Christian at Tippecanoe Valley
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley was unable to pick up a Senior Night win, falling 3-2 to Bethany Christian.
Valley’s three seniors did pick up wins in their matches. Partners Lily Ault and senior Andie Schwenger picked up a 6-2, 6-3 doubles win. The senior pairing of Nataly Rodriguez and Brianna Feldman won 7-6, 1-6, 7-6.
