The Lakes Festival Returns To Center Lake On July 9

In 2020, the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams engaged its longtime partner, the City of Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department, in conversations to help map the future of the county’s largest festival, according to a news release from the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams. The decisions leverage the strengths of both organizations and will result in a dynamic, family-friendly experience for lake and music enthusiasts alike, the release states.
“For this and future Lakes Festivals, the city will utilize their expertise to manage the major logistics, including booking bands and food trucks,” said Dr. Nate Bosch, director of the Lilly Center. Meanwhile, the Lilly Center will do what it does best: lake science and education. “We’ll bring the educational components to the day,” said Bosch. “That includes science stations, ecotours on Center Lake and more.”
Crowd favorites will still be offered: bounce houses, the Aquaglide inflatable obstacle course and craft booths.
Five blues bands will play back-to-back concerts throughout the day, including William Scott, the Out of Favor Boys, Cari Ray & The Shaky Legs, Treated-N-Released and Jake Kershaw.
And, as always, the event remains free.
“We’re thrilled to partner more closely with the Lilly Center to host the Lakes Festival,” said Larry Plummer, superintendent of Warsaw Parks and Recreation. “We feel that the reimagined event brings together so much of what makes Kosciusko County unique. It’s perfect for the whole family.”
More details about the Lakes Festival will be released in the coming weeks. Families are encouraged to follow the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department and the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams on Facebook to stay in the loop.
