Warsaw Community Schools Bands’ Concerts Highlight A Year Of Learning

The first is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center. The concert is free of charge.
WCHS Band Director Mark Ziegler said the concert is their spring concert and will include the high school’s Concert Band and Wind Ensemble.
The Concert Band will perform “Fanfare for Justice” by Richard Saucedo and “Equilibrium” by Michael Oare, he said.
The Wind Ensemble will perform “Summer Dances” by Brian Balmages and “Imaginarium” by Randall Standridge.
The two bands together will perform music from “The Incredibles” as arranged by Jay Bocook.
After the concert, band awards will be given out. Also, the show theme for the marching band show in the fall is going to be revealed.
There will be a donation drum out in the PAC lobby that will go toward the band.
Tuesday’s concert is a culmination of the music the bands have been working on in the spring. It’s the last concert of the year, so it showcases what the students learned and have been able to achieve this year, Ziegler said.
The second concert will involve the sixth-grade band, beginning band, intermediate band and advanced band, said Warsaw Middle School Band Director Joseph Peloza.
It will be at 7 p.m. May 16 at Lakeview Auditorium. It is free to the public.
Peloza said there is not a particular theme to that concert.
“It’s music that we’ve picked that challenges the students that is fun and entertaining,” Peloza said.
Some of the songs will come from the song selection the advanced band played during the ISSMA Organizational Contest in March, he said. Some of the songs include a medley from “Aladdin” and “Avengers: Endgame,” and songs from different countries like “March of the Irish Guard.”
He said he’s been very proud of the steady progression of the students throughout the year. He thinks the audience members that have attended previous concerts in the year will be able to see students’ progress.
Peloza said the May 19 concert should be a “fun, entertaining concert where parents can appreciate the talents their students have.”
