St. Paddy’s Street Party A Collaboration Of Businesses

After a couple years absence due to the pandemic, the St. Paddy’s Street Party returns to downtown Warsaw on Thursday, March 17 with all the requirements necessary to make it a festive occasion.
Hosted by The Vic at One Ten Craft Meatery, the six-hour event - in its third year after the pandemic cancelled it the last two years - is a collaboration between several downtown eateries and breweries, the city and Main Street Warsaw.
The party is from 4 to 10 p.m. on Buffalo Street between Center and Main streets.
Three live bands from the Goshen area will perform, according to Candace Balke, The Vic events coordinator. Shiny Shiny Black is an “alternative, Americana, folk, indie, rock, songwriter group,” according to their website. McLane & Company is a five-piece band with a folk/indie rock sound, their Facebook page states. Finally, Brides of Neptune plays “irreverent folk,” or folk rock music, according to information on their Facebook page.
Food and drink will be available, The Vic at One Ten owner Jason Brown said. “We have the likes of Ledgeview Brewing. We have Mad Anthony’s. We have HopLore. We have The Diner. Those first three are going to be (providing) drink. They’ll also have the spirits. We’ll have green beer. The Diner is going to be supplying food. Shawnanigans is going to be supplying food,” he said.
One Ten will be open during the party.
Brown said there will be a lot of Irish-style food. Balke said One Ten will be providing their “One Ten Mac” and Shepherd’s Pie. Shawnanigans will have a barbecue bison slider and banger bites with a beer gravy, as well as a classic bison cheeseburger. The Diner will be offering corn beef and cabbage, as well as carrots and potatoes and an Irish stew.
Mad Batter Baking will be providing cupcakes and cookies.
Essentially, Brown said, each of the breweries will be bringing a light, dark, hoppy and seasonal beers.
Admission is $5. Brown said wristbands will be used to tag people coming in and out of the tent. It is all ages so children can attend, and the bar area will be blocked off.
“And then everything is going to be done on a ticket-based system. So each ticket will be $5, and then you’ll transfer the ticket over to each vendor, so there won’t be any cash or credit card transactions to the vendors. There will just be a hub that you’re going to buy tickets from,” he said.
Three tents, provided by Main Street Warsaw, will be set up on Buffalo Street for the event. Two will be put together for the band and sitting area, with the third set up toward the back for the food, Balke said. Restrooms will be available inside The Vic so guests can use the bathrooms.
The Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will be providing picnic tables for outside of the tent, and there will be tables from Warsaw Party Rental as well. Balke said there will be some cornhole boards set out for people to play.
A police officer will be on hand for security.
“We will have fire pits and bon fires,” Brown said. “The tent will be heated as well, and the cocktails certainly will help warm you up.”
As of Friday, the expected high for Thursday is predicted to be around 67 degrees, with the low around 46.
For anyone who doesn’t want to miss any of the NCAA basketball tournament, Brown said it will be displayed.
“In years past, we’ve had 300, 400 people show up. So, we would love to have that kind of traction again,” Brown said. “... I think people are exhausted from not being able to leave their house and have parties. This is finally back. This was a big thing that we did for a minute.”
As the event is all outdoors, masks and social distancing won’t be required. However, a person is welcome to wear a mask if they prefer. Hand sanitizer will be available on tables.
Balke said the event is a big collaboration between businesses in town to bring people together.
“Dress up! Get festive!” Brown said. “We want people to get at it.”
