BOURBON – LeRoy “Pealy” Heckaman, age 92, of Bourbon, passed away on Feb. 27, 2022, in Woodlawn Hospital of Rochester.

Pealy was born to Walter and Elva Berkeypile Heckaman on Aug. 22, 1929, in Bremen. He was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Bourbon High School in 1947. He married Marjorie E. Zillmer on July 9, 1973, and she preceded him in death on July 31, 2013. He delivered motor homes all over the country with his wife. He was a member of Bourbon First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed racing, camping, loving his wife Marge, spending time with his family, attending sporting events, traveling and meeting people.

Pealy will be dearly missed by his sons: Terry Heckaman, of DeWitt, Mich.; Rex (Leanne) Heckaman, of Nappanee; Kim (Jane) Heckaman, of Plymouth: Marty (Denise) Heckaman, of Etna Green; his stepdaughters: Diana Jansma, of Plymouth; Marsha (Mike) Baker, of Auburndale, Fla.; his sisters: Bonnie Craig, of Nappanee; Joyce Overmyer, of Bourbon; his 18 grandchildren; his 29 great-grandchildren; his 14 great-great-grandchildren; and his six great-great-great-grandchildren; along with his many friends.

Pealy is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marge; his son, Ken Steinman; his daughter-in-law, Barb Heckaman; his son-in-law, Earl Jansma; his brother, Roscoe (Pete) Heckaman; his sisters: Helen Montgomery, Faye King and Jeannie Roahrig.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3 from 2 to 8 p.m. in Bourbon First United Methodist Church, 204 N. Washington St., Bourbon.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 4 at 10 a.m. in Bourbon First United Methodist Church, 204 N. Washington St., Bourbon, with Pastor Kenneth Cooke presiding. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ind. 331 North, Bourbon.
