Ivy Tech FW Selects Adams As Dean Of The School Of Nursing

In the role, Adams will manage the day-to-day functions of the Associate of Science in Nursing and Practical Nursing programs, oversee instructional quality and student success, provide program leadership and ensure program compliance with the Indiana State Board of Nursing and Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation, according to a news release from Ivy Tech.
“I'm so pleased to lead the team at Ivy Tech as we educate the nurses of the future,” said Adams. “Our community needs high-quality healthcare, and we have a growth plan, the dedicated faculty, and the cutting-edge lab spaces that will allow us to train more nurses to serve our community.”
Adams has worked in a variety of roles at Ivy Tech Fort Wayne since 2014, including interim dean of nursing, ASN program chair, MSN nursing instructor and adjunct nursing instructor. She also developed hands-on field experience as a registered nurse at Lutheran Hospital for 16 years.
“I’m excited about having an experienced faculty as the new dean of the School of Nursing for Ivy Tech Fort Wayne,” says Heidi Fowler, vice chancellor of Academic Affairs. “As the program expands to meet the growing demand for nurses in our region, I can’t imagine a person more suited to lead our faculty. Lindsay’s inquisitive nature and breadth of knowledge and experience will allow for a smooth transition as we discover how far the team can go.”
Adams has earned an MSN in nursing education from Western Governors University (WGU) and an ASN from Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne. Additionally, she holds certificates in Certified Critical Care Nurse, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support.
Northeast Indiana’s health systems are in critical need of nurses and through partnership with the area’s healthcare employers, Ivy Tech Fort Wayne is poised to meet the workforce demand. Most recently in January, Indiana University Health awarded Ivy Tech an $8.75 million grant to expand its nursing program. Because of this investment, the Fort Wayne campus plans to add a simulation coordinator, renovate and expand the current simulation lab, hire an onboarding specialist and purchase new laptops. The ultimate goal is to add approximately 60 additional seats to its nursing program and hire four additional instructors by 2025.
