THORNTOWN – Whitko softball made the long trip to Western Boone High School worth it with a 9-7 extra innings win over the home team on Tuesday to secure the school’s first regional championship since 2017, and second in school history. The Lady ‘Cats have gotten hot at the perfect time, and extend their winning streak to five and improve their record to 10-12.

After Guinny Garr got on base with a hit off of the wall in the eleventh, Addie Garr blasted a two run home run to put Whitko on top for good. Addie had three hits on the evening. Maddie Dafforn got the win for the Lady ‘Cats, striking out four and pitching all eleven innings.

To celebrate the accomplishment, the team was given a parade that went through downtown South Whitley as well as Pierceton. Whitko will look to continue its season against North Newton on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Warsaw High School.
