Sadlers Retire From Funeral Business

An announcement Saturday about the Sadlers’ retirement from Michael and Tracy Wilson stated, “We are proud of this opportunity for them as they have served our community as a family for many years! Our commitment is to continue the traditions of those families before us, as McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, in both Warsaw and Pierceton.”
Michael’s history with the Sadler family started in 1973 while in high school and continued over the years as a part-time associate at the funeral chapel with family visitation, funeral services and assisting families with their pre-arrangements.
“We are continuing the tradition set by the Ashley family in the 1890s with a family-owned, local ownership association, just as the McHatton and Sadler families have for years,” the announcement states. “My wife, Tracy, and I are pleased to become part of the McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, with our dedication as a locally family-owned funeral chapels.”
The Wilsons also announced that all the familiar faces will remain in place with David Baker, senior funeral director; funeral directors Jason Mishler and Richard Koschnick; office manager Mindy Ladd; and funeral associates Bob Turner, Frank Sapper, Nick Walenga, Janet Hartman, Larry Ladd, Chris Fancil, Ken Strong, Larry Burkhart and Gary Diekelmann.
Anyone who previously pre-funded/pre-arranged their funeral services with McHatton-Sadler has “our assurance that the funds you provided in advance will remain fully accounted for and secure,” the release states. “Although you have the right to use any funeral home at the time of need, we are confident that our professional staff will provide a dignified and personal funeral service for you and your family.”
Nothing is going to change at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, according to the release.
“Our staff is pleased to provide you the hometown service you deserve. As a retired fire chief of your community, I’m proud to say, your friends here at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels are proud to be of service to you.”
Michael went into the Army in 1975 as a military policeman. He spent his last three years at Ft. Harrison, and was a part of the volunteer fire department at Ft. Harrison.
At his retirement party in May from the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, where he served the last seven years as fire chief, he said he’s had the “fortunate opportunity” to be one of the new owners of McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel.
“I am the local managing partner. My other partners are in Cincinnati, Ohio, and southern Indiana,” Wilson said. “I started with Wendell Sadler when I was in high school in 1973. Been involved with the Sadler family ever since then, and just like John’s like a little brother to me, and we wanted it to stay kind of in the family, family transition, and our family is going to be involved in that.”
