NORTH MANCHESTER - The Manchester Town Council heard a Center for History funding request from Nancy Alspaugh, board member of the North Manchester Historical Society, at Wednesday night's meeting.

The town donated $10,000 to the Center for History in 2021 and the organization, which partners with the local library, schools, assisted living facilities and the town's Parks and Recreation department, is asking for the same amount this year.

In other new business, the Council adopted the Imagine One 85 Plan, Resolution 4, which is an update on the 2015 comprehensive plan for the town.

Clerk-Treasurer Carrie Mugford opened water softening salt bids. The town's current provider is Cargill at $81.74 per ton. This year's received bids were from Cargill at $91.74 per ton and Compass Minerals at $99.58. The Council will take the bids under advisement.

In other business, there was a town docket of $840,284.43 and a utilities docket of $226,743.57.

In public comment, Clint Bischoff of Laketon told the Council he does not agree with "where the town's money is going," citing the prioritization of parks and recreational projects over more public safety improvements.

The Council will next meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 3.
