Elkhart Man Arrested For Shooting In Milford


MILFORD - An Elkhart man was arrested following a shooting in Milford Sunday afternoon.

Jonathan David Mast, 38, of Elkhart, was preliminarily charged with aggravated battery.

The victim is a 44-year-old man whose identity is not being released.

According to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office on behalf of the Milford Police Department, emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of South James Street in Milford for an incident involving a firearm Sunday. At about 5:05 p.m., the KCSO 911 Communications Center received a call regarding a man with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was taken to an area hospital for the treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined that Mast had left the scene following the alleged incident, according to the release. Mast was subsequently apprehended and incarcerated in the Kosciusko County Jail.

More information will be available once formal charges are filed, the release states.

The incident remains under investigation by the Milford Police Department.

Responding agencies included the KCSO, Milford Police Department, Syracuse Police Department, North Webster Police Department, NET 43, Milford Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
