WPAC Seeking Artists' Entries For Summer Outdoor Art Display

The call to artists opportunity is available to artists enrolled in graduate or undergraduate college programs in the 2021-22 academic year, according to a news release.
The Warsaw Public Art Commission welcomes visual artists, sculptors, sound artists, performing artists, photographers, filmmakers and others to submit a proposal. Artworks should fit within a 3-foot by 4-foot footprint and height is bound to engineering and safety constraints. Approved submissions will be exhibited to the public 24/7 beginning in June and will remain displayed for four to five months or for a duration determined by the city of Warsaw. Works may be offered for sale during the exhibition period and selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend and, additionally, up to $2,000 for materials will be reimbursed.
Deadline for proposals is March 1. To receive detailed information on proposal requirements, artists should email Justin Taylor at [email protected].
"Our goal for this project is to use art to engage our community and visitors with our beautiful downtown. We are excited for Warsaw to be the recipients of the variety of art submitted," said Mayor Joe Thallemer.
Funding for this project will be provided through the Warsaw Public Art Commission’s designated fund at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation. Community members and businesses with a passion for art, placemaking or care of the downtown are invited to reach out to Suzie Light to learn more about supporting this project. The Warsaw Public Art Commission’s mission is to secure permanent and temporary art installations in Warsaw, the release states. Recent projects by the Warsaw Public Art Commission include “Radiance,” a permanent steel and glass sculpture by New York artist Osman Akan located at Castaldi Fountain on Buffalo Street; and “Lifting Up” a permanent sculpture by Goshen artist John Mishler located at City Hall.
Committee members for the Warsaw Public Art Commission include Light, Stephanie Salyer, Taylor, Paulette Davis, Elisa Wise, Sherri Johnson and Andrea Miller.
