Born on Nov. 20, 1948, in South Bend, Robert was the son of Robert Lynn and Carrie Ann Kleitz Hatten Sr. He was united in marriage to Catherine Maggert on Feb. 17, 1973, who preceded him in passing May 18, 2011.
He was a graduate of Edwardsburg High School and attended Michigan College of Commerce for two years. He proudly served his country as a SP-5 in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972 during the Vietnam War. Robert was formerly employed by Dalton Foundry as a Core Finisher with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union Local 6805.
Robert will be lovingly remembered by his children: Robert Lynn Hatten III, of South Bend; Jennifer Hatten Ogle, of Columbus, Ind.; Chris (Montana) Hatten, of Mentone; sisters: Gloria Hatten-Jones, of Edwardsburg; and Mary Hatten, of Joliet, Ill. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren: Darby Hatten and Ruxin Hatten. He was preceded in passing by his wife, Catherine Hatten; and a granddaughter, Reann Renee.
All services are private with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating. Interment is also private at Oakwood Cemetery. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is entrusted with arrangements for the family.
