Morrison Healthcare and members of Compass Group North America will layoff 126 employees at Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital and Warsaw’s Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital.
“A new food services provider will begin serving Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital at the end of January. We anticipate the majority of team members working with the current provider will remain with the new provider. We are grateful to Morrison for their service,” said Megan Hubartt, director of communications, Lutheran Health Network.
The notice date on the Indiana Department of Workforce Development website for Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications (WARN) is Dec. 22.
The federal WARN Act requires employers to give official notice to several state and local government bodies of expected terminations. The affected employees also were notified.
The notification letter posted on the Workforce Development website states that “Morris has lost the food service contract with Lutheran Hospital.” The layoff will be on Jan. 25.
“We expect this action will be permanent and we reasonably anticipate that most employees will be hired by the new vendor. The impacted workers are not represented by any labor organization or union therefore no bumping rights exist,” the letter stated.
