Janet was born on March 23, 1947, in Portland, Ind., to Virgil and Mignon Windmiller. On March 26, 1971, she married Donald Imel in Pensacola, Fla., who preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 2022.
Surviving are her son, Shawn Imel; wife, Traci; and granddaughter, Reagan, Fort Wayne; son-in-law, Thomas Ross; and grandsons, Andrew and Aaron, Warsaw.
Janet was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Mark Windmiller; and daughter, Heather Imel Ross.
Janet worked in education and retired as the director of the early childhood education program at Ivy Tech Community College in Ft Wayne.
Janet enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as spending the winters with her husband Don in Gulf Shores, Ala.
A private graveside service will be held in Oakwood Cemetery Warsaw at a later date.
