By Staff Report-

Warsaw Community Schools selected Tracy Horrell as the assistant superintendent of secondary education.

He takes over the position from Dr. David Robertson, who resigned.

He graduated from Anderson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education and Health. He went on to earn his master's degree from Indiana Purdue University, Fort Wayne, in administrative leadership. In 2020, Horrell completed an Educational Specialist degree in District Leadership from Indiana State University, Terre Haute.

Horrell began his teaching career at Edgewood Middle School in 1998, according to a news release from WCS. He served as assistant principal at Edgewood from 2007 to 2015. Horrell will be returning to Warsaw Community Schools after serving as principal of Western Middle School, Russiaville.

In 2018, his wife, Kristen, donated her kidney to Tracy who was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney disease, a genetic disorder. With a newfound lease on life, Tracy competed virtually in the Transplant Games in 2020 and in person in San Diego in 2022, the news release from WCS states.

The couple has fostered or provided respite to over 13 children and adopted four children: Jay, fifth grade; Bennett, second grade; Marley, kindergarten; and Nora, preschool.

Tracy Horrell has been active in his local church, Bridgeway Church, where he serves as an elder and coaches youth soccer and basketball.

Horrell said, “I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to serve as the next assistant superintendent of secondary education for Warsaw Community Schools. I look forward to building on the great work that has been done. I will work with and for the Warsaw community to advance the mission ‘to inspire and equip all students to continuously acquire and apply knowledge and skills while pursuing their dreams and enriching the lives of others.’"

WCS Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert said, "We are excited to welcome Tracy and his family back to Warsaw Community Schools. His qualifications, previous experience within Warsaw Schools, experience with school safety, and leadership qualities made him an outstanding candidate. Our team looks forward to working with Tracy Horrell again."
